Help raising SAT score?

So I just took my first SAT test in June. I received a 1690 - a 580 in CR a 530 in Math (SO bad) and a 580 in Writing with a 8 for the essay. I was extremely dissatisfied with the score. I would like a 1900+ on my next SAT (probably next year) with a 650+ on CR, 620+ on math, and 680+ on writing. I am a pretty good student with an A- average. I don't want to get into an Ivy school, just a good Christian school like Wheaton, Cedarville, etc.

Any advice/help? :-*

CR:
Resources:
-Vocab: Direct Hits (book), Quizlet (online), Mindsnacks (found on the Apple App store)
-Passage Practice: Untimed Blue Book tests, Erica Meltzer’s CR Guide (book)

General Tips: Untimed practice helps a lot, since it helps improve accuracy. Plus, it ensures that you don’t zone out on the passages, since you have unlimited time. Do daily vocab review for 15-20 minutes in order to help you remember the words.

Math:
Resources:
-Khan Academy (online), PWN the SAT Math (book)

General Tips: Master the concepts, by reviewing algebra and geometry. Do some untimed practice, just as with CR. Look up concepts that you’re unfamiliar with during these untimed practice tests, and do 5-10 more practice problems to master the concepts.

Writing:
Resources:
-Erica Meltzer’s Grammar Guide

General Tips: Most (80%) of the multiple choice questions can be answered just by saying the sentence in your head, as long as you generally practice proper grammar in everyday writing/conversation. For the essay, come up with some canned examples, organized by literature, history, people and current events (current events are optional…it’s helpful if you watch/like the news). Write down themes/attributes for each example, and implement them on the actual test. If you do this, develop a solid formula, and write ~2 pages, you’re guaranteed at least a 10/12 on the essay (which can only help your overall Writing score).

Hope this helps! Good Luck! :)

Thanks! So do you think its possible to raise it by two to three hundred points?

if you work at it long enough you can have amazing improvements

Practice, Practice, and Practice.

The best way to improve any SAT score, is by finding your weaknesses and improving on it.
