<p>I remember ChoatieMom’s reference - there was a student-athlete at PAA who received a named athletic scholarship a couple of years ago according to his father on CC, and the impression given was that it was not need based.</p>

<p>Interesting thread - with some prep schools having more endowment (1 billion dollars) than many colleges (or small nations), how they decide to use some or all of it is certainly their prerogative.</p>

<p>^^I have dug out this RADDAD75’s posts. The guy was a handful but I didn’t find anywhere he said his fAmily had NO financial need. He obviously had a very good offer but how did you figure it’s not need-based?</p>

<p>Look, if Andover offers merit based aid, it’s hardly a scandal as many here already made “excuses” for it and it’s not necessarily a bad rep for the school either. I just hope we are not making conclusions out of speculations or anecdotes inadvertently, which can be misleading to those who are new to the process.</p>

<p>There’s no scandal at PAA. It is what it is.</p>
