Help Reading My PSAT's

Hi, I'm in 10th grade and took my first PSAT test at the begining of the school year...ever since I got it back I havn't been able to tell if I did good okay or bad.... Where it says "What SAT ranges Can You Expect" it worried me because if it's out of 800 then it seems horrible! For...
SAT Critical Reading I got from 430-630
SAT Math I got from 370-550
SAT Writing I got from 430-650

each section IS out of 800, so i strongly suggest you start preparing NOW

fyi, the average for each section is usually around 500

yes prep o__O well, try out the PLAN/ACT too...see how you do with that

Yes...prepping is highly recommended, although I suppose you may be able to pull your scores up a bit due to your 10th grade English and math classes.

i think you can definitely bring your scores up if you prepare hard enough. when i took the plan test, which is basically the psat in act form, it said my estimated score range was 25-29, and i ended up getting a 31 overall. just keep taking tests and you'll be fine... :-)

I say don't worry so much! My scores were much higher as well. You're only a sophomore. I don't even remember my PSAT scores when I was a sophomore, but I believe they were somewhere areound the 86th percentile. Junior year I ended up in the 98th. I didn't study for these or anything, I just kept doin' what I was doin'. Keep it up and you'll be fine!

Your scores go up a lot naturally. When I took the PSAT the first time, my scores were mildly commendable, and I remember that they were pretty good when I took it one year later. That said, they were MUCH better on the actual SAT. I think years of schooling just help you prepare.
