Hi, all.
I'm a current student in UIUC and want to transfer to another school. I know UIUC is very good but I prefer a more urban and small-sized class environment after several months studying here. I think I can have a pretty good GPA for first semester (probably3.9-4.0). The problem is all classes I take are intro classes and there is almost no chance that professor will know me and write a recommendation letter. I looked some old threads and they said TA is also ok. But since I didn't think transfer before, I didn't take discussion very serious and the courses are very easy to me and I can solve all problems myself and never go to office hour. Is it possible to ask for recommendation letter of second semester professor?
It would be very helpful if you can give me some advice. :)

It’s possible, but given the timeframe of when applications need to be submitted, it’s not ideal.

Thank you entomom. I think over and find it not ideal too…But will professor write recommendation letter for students they don’t know much but get a A?

In your situation, it might be helpful if the professor recognizes/knows you by name, even if you haven’t gone to their office hours very much. I don’t think it’s too late to start visiting them, however, especially for classes that you find very interesting. Perhaps talk to them about the course material beyond the scope of the class (such as practical applications to the real world)? You could also ask them challenging questions. Be aware, though, that if they do agree to write you a letter of recommendation, it is likely that their letter may be generic. Good luck!
