I chose Kinesiology as a major and i have no clue what classes to register for. Can anyone help me?

You can register online?

Somebody help the man and me.

I'm assuming there will be no advising online?

Im just looking at all these general requirements.

I took stats and Bio this year so idunno how many courses i should sign up for if i get those AP creds. I also have 5 on ap psych.

holy christ so many classes are taken up already

is there a way i can get a counselor from UIUC to helop me with this?

I am assuming you are a student who is starting freshman year in August. If so, you cannot register until you go to your summer orientation session. At the session, you will visit with persons with knowledge about your program including a counselor and register at the end of the orientation session.

They will explain such things as expected AP credits -- for example, if you are taking the tests now, scores may not be in before you register; in that case if you want to rely on having a score that allows you to pass out of a course and take a higher level, you can register for the higher level on that assumption (and change later during drop and add if the assumption turns out to be incorrect).

Between now and your orientation session, you should attemp to learn as much as you can about what courses are required both for your major and in Gen Ed for the university: start with here: http://courses.uiuc.edu/cis/programs/urbana/2007/fall/undergrad/als/kines.html

and here: http://courses.uiuc.edu/cis/gened/urbana/2007/Fall/

and don't stop with either as you should also look at the courses as described in the course catalog for prerequisites and you should search the department pages for their list of approved courses for Gen Ed and possible recommended order of courses.

As with any major, you should assume that as a freshman you will likely be taking only a few courses directly within your major and a lot of courses to meet those Gen Ed requirements. You may face issues with classes that are already full and will want to find alternatives but also be aware that as time progresses they sometimes add new sessions for courses that are currently full.

good luck, signing up for classes is a ***** at Illinois.

You tend to get the hang of it but it can get really complicated the first time you do it.

B/c I didn't know what classes were easy, some guy workin at the ACES Library recommended I take Intro to Pyschology and I had to drop that class after the I took the midterm b/c it was the hardest class I've ever dealt with in my life. By the way, I don't recommend anyone take that class.
