hello guys, do you guys reply to an acceptance letter even when you're still waiting for other university?

i just got accepted to one of my favorite university.
i'm deeply interested in their program and would be more than happy to enter it.
but i'm still waiting for other uni and might not enter the program if i got admitted to one of my better top choices.

the uni said that i can reply until april, but is it the common sense in US btw, i'm an intl
to reply to an acceptance letter (for a courtesy) when you might/might not enter the program?

thanks in advance!!

You have until April to respond to the school which means you can sit back and wait to hear from your top choice(s). Be kind to those on the waiting list and notify schools as soon as you have made your decision.

Don't reply to the acceptance letter until you have made your final decision.

I have sent simple "acknowledgment of receipt" type e-mails though, Mollie. You know, thanking them but explaining I could not make a final decision until after completing my interviews, especially to the schools top on my list. It is not at all necessary, but I do not think it could hurt anything either.

I guess the bottom line is this: You are accepted. You have until April. Whether you send them a reply now or not will not change either of those truths.

i was unsure because i wanted to show my strong interest to the school that accepted me, hoping that small courtesies would result positively in my relationship with the faculty giving me the full financial support (if i were to enter the program)

in the other hand, i want to avoid misunderstanding so that i can still choose other schools

but, i guess i can just wait until april.

thanks guys!
