help: retake?

hey guys, i'm asking this for a friend.

she took the sat reasoning test today pretty much without any prep at all and so she wasn't very used to it. she's extremely brilliant but you know how these standardized testing things go.

she has no idea how well she did but most likely she feels it's not a great score. she will be retaking in october either way and she's wondering if she should cancel the score to sort of ... erase evidence. cough. haha.

any input would be greatly appreciated! thanks a lot guys.

if she doesnt think she did good at all then cancel it..

personally.. if i was in her shoes and i had zerp preparation and didnt think i did that good at all, i would cancel it.

yeah, that's what i thought too. but on further thought i wondered, do colleges like to see improvement or do they prefer brilliant kids who just go in and do well on the first try?

Well, sometimes people overreact the first time they take the SAT. She might end up doing better than she expected, and even if she doesn't, what harm does it do if she's gonna take it again? She'll have the summer to study up and next time she takes the SAT, she can dominate it. Colleges probably won't really care too much about the 1st time as long as you improve the 2nd time by getting a more competitive score.

It's throwing away good money to cancel a score when retakes are not viewed as a problem by competitive colleges.
