So I am not sure if other students have/will be doing this, but I would like to give a gift and a card to the 2 teachers who gave me letters of recommendation. If anyone has/will/has ideas about doing this, what gift would you recommend? I am not creative and I usually don’t give gifts for anyone, but I am grateful for them doing this for me.
Write a sincere thank you note. Later, tell them the results and what you plan to do. Then, send them a postcard to let them know how you’re doing at your chosen college the following fall. No gift card or gift is necessary but I think my daughter baked cookies for her teachers.
There’s a whole recent thread on this topic at the URL below:
Honestly a sincere and handwritten letter is the best gift of all. Don’t forget the GC. My son wrote her a thank-you letter saying he didn’t know what she said about him, but it must have been helpful because he got into so many reaches. She was practically in tears when she called him to thank him for writing the letter. She’d really never gotten such a nice letter before.
My sister is a prof. who writes a good number of recommendations. She said that a hand written thank you note is her favorite thing to get.
