Yeah, 11% smells funny.

The bank in question is Citi. They told me that they can give me a rate after a credit score check.

For the record, I’m probably going with the 1-year loan(1.59% interest) in my home country, for now.

Thanks for all the help though.

ACtually that makes sense. They would determine your rate partially on your credit score. I read your post as though you wouldn’t be give the rate until after your signed the loan. Don’t ever do that!

thank gawd you are careful
I was there few years back since no one at kid’s HS would do such thing. his GC kept confusing them with state regents exam!!!
I can’t remember top of my head which one would, but some top schools asks either ACT with writing, or two SAT IIs - preferably from math science and humanities each.
some IVY asks three SAT IIs, P? maybe.
It also the regional thing. some places, SAT is not the thing kids do anyway, no one would go to schools that need them, etc.
If you’d have one of those USNWR best colleges issue, it come with pull out thing that all tests timeline is listed.
You never said you are junior? I am now hoping you are still soph…

good news
SAT II is easier to study and as good student you are, shouldn’t be hard at all. need 700sh for tippy top school

^ that post was meant to go to Saic kid’s thread, sorry

Duly noted. Thanks for all the help, it’s really useful for an international, as I’ve never gone to the US and I have zero to nil idea to what to expect. I don’t even know how safe NY is. (seriously, how safe? not downtown manhattan, but some average 'hood) Feel free to hurl any advice living in the US, I’d love to hear!

So after a week worth of “talks” with mom and dad, I’m officially going to SAIC for fashion. Turns out, the parents don’t have enough faith in me to succeed at Parsons.

I’ll just have to make do and work really hard at getting the most out of Chicago. I’ll turn the Field Museum into my RISD Nature lab. And scour the city for tailoring shops I can apprentice at.

Wish me luck!

Alright then, I’d have loved to see you at Parsons but alas… SAIC is also a very good school, you’ll have a great chance of succeeding. If you ever visit Parsons, ask for Burak :P

Seriously, good luck out there.

SL: SAIC is fabulous! And as a NYer, if there is any city that can come close to NY – it’s Chicago! It is very au courant and young and the Art Institute is attached to the school (well, the other way around :D). The dorms are the best any where! The fashion dept is very strong. But in the end, it is what you make out of the school that will be the thing that gets you to the next level. Use your summers to intern possibly in NY, Chicago, San Fran, if you can to add to your resume. It will be a great experience.
And to all: enjoy the ride –

the 13th street dorm has a cafeteria in the basement, thats why the meal plan is 1800. we dont have microwaves or kitchens, while the other dorms do. if you get put in other dorms you can easily add to the 250 or whatever it is as you need it
