The first I time I ever took an SAT (practice test), it was in the 2008 Kaplan SAT book. I got a 1790. The second time, I took an online course (Kaplan, still taking it), and my score dropped down to a 1660, but oddly enough I got a 12 on the essay. The third time (still online practice course), I got a ten on the essay and a 1420!!!!!!! What the hell am I doing wrong?!1?! The more comfortable I am feeling with reading and math the worse I am doing on it

All of these tests were taken like the real SAT. I printed out an answer sheet and test booklet, so it wasn't on the computer.
HELP

The tests are probably getting harder. idk

I took the same kaplan course too with the same type of test results idk kaplan is weird… I had a a 15 something on their last practice test before the real sat and I ended up getting a 1740 on the real one. Also I had a 1860 on their third practice test and it dropped to the 15 something. Just study from the blue book, that’s what I’m doing over the summer beacuse I want to raise my score of 1740 to at least 1950 or 2000.

This is why most people tell you to stay away from 3rd party test (Princeton Review, Kaplan and the like) as they aren’t really accurate and stray away from the actual format of the test.

To the OP: try taking a test from the Blue Book and see how you perform.

Okay, I have the blue book too, so this weekend I’ll try that. But last two tests I took were from the same source so shouldn’t the only inaccuracies be from me? Maybe I just suck at the Kaplan Method?

I’d say it’s most likely the tests themselves; your blue book grades will most likely be consistent, if not improving (:

What was your most recent blue book test score, if you don’t mind me asking?

That was to Hossain, btw

bismuthoxide, thanks. So do you think that Kaplan’s essay are also very different from the real tests? I was happy with my 10-12 range, it would be nice to keep it that way haha

My last recent blue boom score was 1960

But that’s beacuse of practice… Cuz the 1740 on the actual sat was before I started studying so hard.

Nice. When did you start studying yourself and not with Kaplan?

And did you have someone else grade your essays?

I started studying by myself this summer actually. And yea I would give the essay to my tutor to grade

What were your essay grades during the kaplan course compared to what they are now? I was getting 10-12 on their essays so hopefully that’s one thing that won’t change with my scores hehe

On the kaplan course I always got 12’s and one 10. But on the actual SAT I got a 10. Good, but I was expecting a 12. I only gave 2 examples that’s why I think. I should of thought of another.

DON’T TRUST KAPLAN, THEY ARE MEDIOCRE. ITS TRUE. look around the forum. Use Princeton Review and Barron’s instead and consider subscribing to the SAT online course.

The Kaplan Questions in the SAT Book are a lot easier. I took a practice test in it and scored a 2060. I took the real SAT and got a 1730. I would recommend the BB, the test are way more accurate.

What should I do when I run out of bb tests? What other good companies are out there?

That was to pathetichopeful by the way
