Should I go to SCU or Oxford at Emory? I''m from Hawaii btw..

Well that all depends – what are your goals, plans, etc? What would you like to do with your college experience? What would you like to study, or do in your free time?

I understand there are many students from Hawaii at Santa Clara. I’m guessing getting home will be a little easier too.

ultimately, i want to be happy and get a good job. i want to major in business and minor in english…

PROS for SCU
close to home, much easier to fly home during breaks
nice location
got into business school

CONS for SCU
not as prestigious/ competitive as emory
plan on living on east coast after college

PROS for Oxford
degree from emory
east coast

CONS for Oxford
i will be the only hawaiian, one of the few asians
very small
junior college

Hmm, well that does make the decision tough. I think wherever you go, you can make it work for you. The decision really comes down to whether you want to be closer to home, whether you definitely plan on living on the East Coast, etc. My feeling is, your opportunities for internships/co-ops would be much better at Santa Clara, but an Emory degree does look pretty nice. In terms of business school quality for undergrads, it’s almost a wash. Both are very good with a lot to their name.
If there’s a doubt in your mind about living on the East Coast after graduation, I would say go to SCU – the convenience, location and opportunity you’re afforded by Silicon Valley outweighs Oxford in that case. If you’re sure about your post-graduation plans, then take a long, hard look at Oxford.
