I absolutly agree that if a student doesn’t have other options then accepting a near-free ride to a commuter (or suitcase) school may be the only option.</p>
<p>However, if she has other options that don’t involve attending a commuter school from OOS, those should first be considered.</p>
<p>I’ve told this story before, so I’ll give the short version. Friend wanter her D to attend her alma mater in another state…a commuter school. Happily they sent her. We quickly saw her Facebook posts go from excited to miserable because she was lonely at night and on weekends. She transferred out after one semester. Unfortunately she lost all of her “incoming frosh” status to get decent merit/aid to another school.</p>
