Our d did her first campus visit and really liked most everything about the school. What she really, really, didn’t like was the location. We are in central NJ and she is very comfortable in an urban/suburban atmosphere. I think SU will be one of our better financial options (compared to some big out-of-state universities that interest her with big tuition and little to no aid) and I think it would be a great environment for her. She is interested in communications and we like what we’ve seen SU offers for communications majors. I think she is keeping SU low on her list, though, simply because she fears there is little to do in that rural a setting. Can anyone help me sell her - she very much wants an active campus life, interested in Greek life, sporting events, and the like. Thank you!
I don’t know if I can help much, but I’m hoping my daughter picks the school. We visited SU on Monday! One thing that appealed to us was the bus trips they offer to big cities such as Philly and DC. I think there would be opportunities to do a lot of fun stuff. It sounds like there are clubs for hiking and other outdoor activities, also. My daughter would be in communications, too!
My older son was offered a full-tuition scholarship at SU. He ended up going elsewhere, and I was so disappointed! I think that SU is a hidden jewel. Everything about it has impressed me, from the facilities to the faculty to the friendliness (oops, alliteration not intended).
Thanks MaineLonghorn! That’s good to know about the bus trips - I’ll definitely share that with her! Wow, I’d be disappointed too turning down a full ride! Hopefully he had a good package and a good experience wherever he ended up!
MaineLonghorn, I didn’t realize you had just gone to Susquehanna. (Although maybe it was you who called it to my attention in the first place and I had forgotten that). We are going next month and the PBK and I are very excited. It’s very high on both of our lists, so hoping he likes it a lot.
