Alright, so I was planning on just sending in my ACT… But my friend told me schools in NY prefer the SAT. So please help me with my decision. Here are my scores:
SAT
640CR
690M
790W 10 essay
(I took it a second time in November. Still waiting on those scores but I don’t think I did all that well. Predicting high 600s, low 700s for my two part sections.)
ACT
34C
35E
30M
36R
34S
Here’s my college list:
Boston College
Boston University
Cornell University
Emory University
Johns Hopkins University
SUNY Binghamton
SUNY Stony Brook
University of Rochester
Washington University in St. Louis
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Your friends are mistaken. Schools don’t “prefer” one or another. Their applicant pools (based on geography) may skew sending one over the other – but to imagine that schools don’t have the proper ability to discern ability based on a simple conversion chart is utterly stupid.
Send the ACT, congrats and cease the worrying. You did great. Good luck
I’d send both of your scores because they’ll just choose the test with a better score, and it gives more information about you. If your SAT score is significantly lower than your ACT, colleges will just then dump it off, but your SAT score isn’t THAT bad. It’s 1330 out of 1600, which isn’t too bad. It in fact will provide more information about yourself.
But this is just my linear opinion, and if you don’t feel like sending both, you can just send your ACT.
