Without your Common Application/Universal Application, we cannot open your admission file, track supporting documents for your application, or send your name to our alumni/ae for a possible interview in your area.

The Short Answer about one of your activities, the Personal Essay and the Harvard Application Supplement may be sent at a later date.

Now, I thought it is only possible to send the common application once. How will I send in my essay later? And it won't even let me send without filling in all the required boxes (including the essay portion!).
Please clear this up for me!!!

So I assume that you can send in the common application and leave the essays for later ? It does sound really confusing.

I guess you can write “To be submitted separately” in the essay boxes in order for the common app to be eligible to be sent:/ But the admissions committee only starts reading applications in December though, so you still have lots of time to work on the essays so that they can be sent simultaneously with the rest of the common application.

Thanks Calico. It doesn’t make too much sense, but I was just scared by the urgency of “IMMEDIATELY.”

I always imagined myself sending it all at once, although the interview and other reasons do make sense. Do interviews happen after Jan. 1 or before? I don’t see any other universities wanting it immediately.
