Help! Should I be an engineer?

I really am glad I found this place because I need some help. I LOVE math, and I've aced the ACT math three times and have done extremely well in all math classes (taking Calc AP this year with BC AP exam as well). Solving equations and working on problems is simply exciting to me. However, I've always just leaned towards going into medical (surgeon if anything) because the money (I know it sounds bad, but the job opportunities and pay are no joke) and because I want to make a difference. Although I DEFINITELY want to major in Math or Physics (taking that this year as well and LOVING it so far). I have NO idea what any engineering entails though. I've never been a person of building things, so I don't really know if I'd like it or not.

The reason I'm asking is because I'm applying to UofM right now (I know I'll get in with my stats+early app) and I'm not sure about which college I want to go into. My teachers just started mentioning engineering because my passion for math, but I'm not sure. I've always leaned towards medical or law and have never even considered it.

So yeah haha I know it's my preference and everything, but I really just wanted to see if I could find any help here

Doing an undergraduate in math and/or physics would…
(a) Set you up well to apply to Law school
(b) With some care in course selection, set you up well to apply to Med school
(c) Set you up well to go to math and/or physics graduate school (doctors and lawyers help thousands of people, but mathematicians and physicists can change the world)
(d) Set you up reasonably well for engineering/CS graduate school (again, course selection could be an issue)

Do what you love, and you won’t work a day in your life.

I wouldn’t be to worried about there not being enough money after an engineering degree. You’ll be fine.

From what I gather most pre-med students just take the bare minimum and easy courses to get a high GPA so they can look better to med schools. Taking real classes (math, physics) might hurt you.

Aegrisomnia that’s what I was thinking, and btw yeah that’s my favorite quote :D

Purpleduckman yeahh but if I do get a high GPA with physics and math majors then that would look even better (but I know I will have to work my butt off).

Thanks for the responses guys, :D

I go to the U of M by the way. Are you sure you’ll get in? Admissiions has gotten much tougher over the last 2 years, especially for OOS students.
