So it turns out my mom signed me up for the ACT with no writing for tomorrow, instead of the test with writing. I can't change it right now, though it is possible I can at the testing center. I took the ACT with writing in April but my score was mediocre at best (8). In the event that I am unable to do the writing option on Saturday, will it look bad, considering my writing score is not the best?

Should I even bother retaking the ACTs? Will a 31 or a 32 (unlikely) look significantly better than a 30?

I'm applying ED to Colby, by the way, and most of the schools on my RD list have similar stats to Colby. My 30 falls within all the mid-50s, so would a 31 really look vastly different?

Most top colleges won't even look at an ACT w/o writing. I'm not sure on Colby's policy but I'm sure you could find that out. If you can change it to a test with writing, I'd go for that one last retake. If not, don't bother.

Any better score would definitely help, and if you are signed up, it can't hurt besides a loss of sleep. I mean I'm signed up but I have a 32 and decided that it really wasn't worth it. I didn't prep either... it's really your decision though. I mean, are you comfortable with a 30?

Yeah, I didn't prep at all whereas I prepped a little for my last test, so I don't think my score is likely to go up. If anything, I would want a better writing score, but I'm not even sure I can take the writing portion tomorrow.

I'm pleased with a score of a 30, I think it's fine for the schools I'm looking at.

Colby has the writing as 'recommended'...decisions, decisions.
