Help! Should I take Orchestra or Art?

Hi! I’m currently a sophomore, trying to select her courses for next year. So far I have AP Physics, AP English III, AP U.S. History, Pre-Ap Pre Calculus, Dual Credit Music Theory, and Health. These classes are subject to change as I am debating whether or not I want to beat myself with all those courses. But at the moment I’m thinking about my electives. I can’t decide if I want to take another year of orchestra (I’m currently in my 3rd year of orchestra) or ditch it and take Art. I’m so conflicted I don’t know what to do.

I enjoy the teamwork that orchestra captures, but I also admire the concept of drawing/painting. Unfortunately I cannot take both of these classes, so it kind of sucks so far.

It would be really great if you could give me some advice, feedback, etc.

Thanks!

I believe you should take orchestra. Music is a great skill to have. Since you will be in your fourth year of orchestra next year, you’ll find that the music will get harder and the class will be more exciting.

Is art something you have a background and ability in, or is it just that you’re interested in it? If not, then I would be inclined to agree that you should continue orchestra, and continue it all four years.

If you’ve taken orchestra for a while and are only now considering art, I wouldn’t suggest you ditch orchestra for art. Though I would suggest you drop a class to make room for orchestra if possible.

Thanks for all the advice! It definitely makes my decision much easier.
