help, should i transfer?

i'm a freshman at BU and although i like it, i dont love it. i know its too early to make any decisions but i am considering transferring and just trying to keep my options open. i think BU is an amazing school, i get a lot of work though, but im just not having that much fun here.

my first choice when i was going through the whole application process was indiana university and i loved the campus when i visited. if i transfer it will probably be there. i think that i would have a way better time there. i know that partying isnt the most important thing about school but i'm just not having that much fun here. everyone i've talked to says that spring semester is a million times better. transferring as a sophmore is less ideal to me so it would suck if i stay the whole year only to still hate it . part of the reason why i would want to transfer for spring semester is that rushing for sororities starts in the spring and i think that would be a great way to meet people at a new school where i know no one.

the biggest problem for me is that BU has a really good communications school which i'm in. its recognized across the country and offers many great opportunites. i don't know if it's worth it to trade up a great education for fun. what should i do?

if i were you i would wait it out until the spring. you say you dont hate it, so you can do it! i think partying is not a good enough reason to transfer, especially if you're happy with the academics and you're not miserable. everyone says spring semester gets better, so just wait. if you still hate it, re-consider doing applications later.

Ask yourself, where do you intend to work and settle down in the future?

If you want to settle in the midwest, transferring to Indiana may be a good idea. But, if you want to stay in the northeast, I strongly recommend staying at BU (I assume BU is Boston University).

Also, give it some time. If you're still contemplating transfer this time next year, apply for transfer as a junior.

Wow bregs we're in the same boat. I'm not liking BU at all and wouldve gone to Indiana if I didnt get into BU. My biggest problem is the social life here and the fact that the school is so hard.

yeah the school is really hard and really demanding. i just get so stressed sometimes and i wouldn't have as much of a problem with that if i liked it here more
are you considereing transferring at all or are you staying at BU?
