help starting the college application process

help! starting the college application process
Hello,
I am currently a soft more. I am just beginning my college research process and I am finding it very difficult. I have about a 95% GPA. I also took the psat for the first time ( I will take it again next year) I got a 157 without any prep. I am expecting that this number will greatly increase when I being to prep. I am also taking very difficult course mostly ap and honors. I also have many activities. I am on mock trial, my school paper, and the Italian club. I also volunteer at a local hospital. I was wondering if you could give me some guidance on schools I would have a good chance at getting into. I life in NY, but I am open to going anywhere in the north east. I like MA, DC, PA, NY, and VA. I have thought about schools like Barnard, NYU,GW, Georgetown, Fordham, Holy Cross, U Richmond, among others. I was looking for some thoughts if these are realistic and any other schools you would recommend.

Thank you

How much can your family afford?

We need more information from you:

1) What size school (large public, medium private, small LACs, etc…)
2) Location (urban/rural/suburban) (what part of the country? how far from home will you go?)
3) What are you interested in studying? Doing professionally?
4) culture: preppy, artsy, granola, rah-rah, quirky, intellectual, hipster, military, techie, etc…Give us some adjectives
4) Must haves or deal-breakers (single sex, religious, frats/sororities, etc…)
5) and of course, the money - what can you afford?

If you are considering Barnard, consider Mt. Holyoke (MA) you would probably get your financial need met.
