Help - Student Aid after Undergrad???

What kinds of student aid is available after receiving a undergrad degee?? Is it possible to get aid if you pursue an associate or two year education after a four year degree? Can you only get loans or aid if you go to grad school after a four year?

Grad school:

Depends on what you are studying. Med/Dent/Vet/Law/Pharm you will likely pay with loans. MSW too. Master in Education you might get some help from the school district if you are currently teaching. Master of Engineering you will probably have to pay for yourself, but some of those are just one year. MBA your company might help pay for. For a Ph.D., the university that wants you should offer a tuition waiver and a teaching/research assistantship that will pay your living expenses. If you can’t get full support for a Ph.D., you shouldn’t even think about going.

Post-bacc. Associate or second bachelor’s degree:

Some loan aid is available. Most of the re-treads I know worked either full or part-time and studied part-time while pursuing the new program.

Federal and state grants go away after you earn a bachelor’s. I think loans are the only option for a second degree non-grad student, unless they can get an employer to help with tuition reimbursement.

the graduate students I’ve come across at rutgers mostly receive aid through grants. this one person in particular who just finished up her master’s in communication received a generous grant through scils. and I believe the rest was loans. she also told me that if you work for the federal or state government, they help pay off your student loans. not entirely sure if that is true, but she was pretty much banking on that to pay off her loans (family is not college-educated, parents barely went to high school, and are now living in the projects in staten island). hope this was helpful!
