My DDD is a freshman and is potentially interested in transferring for the fall (she likes her school but it isn’t an LAC and she thinks she would be happier at one. This group is great at offering suggestions as her interests evolve. Here is the current priority list:
In or very near a city
small to medium population
liberal arts school (LAC) with leftist bent
classes offered in photo and fashion (but doesnt need to have as majors)
Her college GPA is 3.85, her hs GPA was 3.9, ACT 31.
Sounds like she should consider Eugene Lang College, the small LAC within the larger New School in NYC, which also includes the Parsons School of Design. She could do a minor through Parsons while getting a liberal arts degree through Lang. https://www.newschool.edu/lang/minors/
@JBSeattle - area of the country not so important though I would love her to be in eastern time zone. The schools you listed - I don’t think many are in or near a city? Major somewhere in the sociology, English, social justice realm but currently very undecided. No stem
@aquapt Lang is on her list and currently the only one that seems to fit all the criteria she wants
@privatebanker she doesn’t want an art school - wants an LAC that also has strong art program.
@Clementine7624
Many of the schools I mentioned are near big cities but on west coast. Manhattan College is the only one that seems to fit with your updated description. Emerson suggested by @Knowsstuff is a good one.
I am just not sure if she needs a portfolio for Emerson. For acting /designing etc you need an audition /portfolio. Very competitive for the arts but great school.
