help! summer options woes:

<p>for the summer, i got offered two very different internships. one deals with field work--i take water and soil samples to help clean up a polluted river, for a small non-profit. the other is a summer research position in a lab at my school studying environmental stressors on microorganisms.</p>

<p>which do you think i should choose? i like both, so i am confused. if i am planning to be an environmental scientist (and also maybe going to grad school at some point) sometime in the future, which do you think would be more important: lab work (after all, isn't this where you learn how to be a real scientist? and i would get to know a professor also..), or field work (but isnt' this what environmental scientists do...?)?</p>

<p>Both are great options. Dawgie has a good point though: money. The research position might be great for shining up your resume for grad school though if you're looking to work for a year after college/etc, the NGO might be right for you.</p>

<p>i agree w/ asdfjkl1... i dunno if being a scientist is so different from an engineer, but if they are more of the same, research is good for grad school and field work is good for job right after college.</p>
