<p>Grinnell's supplement asks "What new mascot or nickname would you recommend for Grinnell College to reflect its history, current environment, and core principles, as you understand them, and why?" to which I answered:</p>
<p>Oh, Metis, Goddess of Craftiness and Cunning, you are Grinnells true mascot. The intellect of the powers, your quick wit conquers titans. So your lover eats you - a trifle - a little pressure can't thwart you. With a little help from your friends, you send your creation of wisdom and war out into the world with a bang. And if it becomes gets too much, a little shape shifting is all you need.
Now, Mount Olympus is not quite Iowa, but every day wise young Grinnellians embody their divine counterpart. They take stress like a Flintstone Vitamin, and shake it off in neon garb. And while every so often a pig must be sacrificed, when a Grinnellian sets out to change something, the world takes notice. Grinnellians are, after all, the stuff of legends.</p>
<p>However, I'm worried that my answer is a little colloquial and doesn't point out strongly enough why I'd like to go there. Any opinions?</p>
