Does Duke mind how many times you've taken the ACT? My parents signed me up for the ACT in 7th grade, and I've taken it once a year since then. Will Duke and other top colleges look down upon this? I've had a consistent upward trend every year, but I have taken it 6 times since the 7th grade..

For the ACT (and the SAT, for the matter), you can choose which test scores you can send. Just send in your highest score to Duke, and it won’t even know how many times you took the ACT.

I’ve taken it 6 times. And I’m going to Duke next year. Don’t sweat it–they won’t know anyway.

ok great thanks

Does this apply to any college?

NO, it does not apply to all colleges. Some colleges (Stanford, Georgetown I believe) require that students send in all of their scores. You will need to check with each college that you are considering.

^How do they know if you sent in all of your scores?

I don’t know if/how they can confirm this with the College Board. They expect students who apply to follow their regulations and consider that they will comply with this guideline honestly - just as they expect honesty in filling out every other part of the application. Here is Georgetown’s wording - [Georgetown University- Office of Undergraduate Admissions](http://uadmissions.georgetown.edu/scorechoicepolicy.cfm)
For schools that require all scores be sent in, I suppose a student could risk that the school might not find out. Probably not a risk worth taking if it’s a school you really want to go to.
