<p>Regarding taxes & scholarships, I have a $6100 grant/scholarship that was dispursed in JAN 2012. This was a partial payment for the FALL 2011 term. I have taxable scholarships of which taxes will be paid on. The scholarships/federal grants that I have are not dedicated to anything specific, i.e. room/board, tuition, etc., that I am aware of, however, I plan to confirm with finaid. I would like to dedicate the $6100 univ grant & federal aid that was dispursed in JAN12 as tuition related expenses for the FALL 2011 term. That way this amount would not be taxable. Since the payment was made in JAN2012 I believe that I can file that with my 2012 taxes next year. I'm just not positive about this since it was payment for the FALL2011 term. If so, I was also wondering if I can deduct the same amount of $6100 from the Fall 2011 Qualified expenses and include that amount with my 2012 taxes next year as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.</p>
