Help! Tcnj vs binghamton?!

Hi everyone! My two top choices are SUNY Binghamton and the College of New Jersey. Right now, I'm having a problem choosing between the two. I have been accepted to both of their business schools.

Binghamton's business school is ranked 35 while TCNJ is ranked 65. The cost does not play a role in my decision.

Anyone have any advice? Any imput is greatly appreciated! Today is the last day to put a deposit down...

Though cost does not play a role, which is your home state? If neither, I would pick Binghamton just going purely for the rankings. The problem with both schools is that they are primarily populated with state residents, many of whom know each other. That can be a bit daunting for some kids.

For example, I know about a dozen kids, and many of them know each other going to Bing just from this area and from those I know. I know a grand total of 2 kids over the last several years going to TCNJ. If I walked onto the campuses, I know where I would be likely to see familiar faces and have a point of familiarity.

I live in NJ. I know about 10 people going to TCNJ and about 2 going to Binghamton. Putting the rankings aside, which school do you think is better academically?

What did or will you decide? My Son will be applying to both those schools as well. TCNJ is so much closer to our house but Binghamton is a more recognizable name according to my Son. He has a few others he is thinking about as well.

Hi, I was actually in the same boat when I was a senior. I heard that TCNJ was a “suitcase” school and decided not to go there. I went to Binghamton instead and have had the most amazing time. It has a great party scene and many different types of student organizations. I have heard bad things about TCNJ from friends who ended up going there, but for everyone it is different. Hope this helps.

Those were my top two choices, too! When I was a senior in high school, I had to make the decision between them. I live in New Jersey, so TCNJ was the less expensive bet. However, Binghamton had more of an allure to me because it was farther from my home, and gave off more of a school spirit/big university feel. I ultimately decided on TCNJ, until I was awarded a big scholarship to Rowan University. I attended Rowan for two years, and even though it was cheap, I hated it. I applied as a transfer to NYU, and got accepted a few days ago.

My two best friends go to TCNJ, and they describe it as boring and pleasant. I’ve visited a few times, and the kids seem really smart and seem to love the school. However, it’s pretty quiet, and the party/school spirit scene is dead. I’d recommend Bing if you want to have a fun 4 years.

TCNJ has a better academic rep, especially once you go outside the ny/nj area.

TCNJ is amazing. The Business School is the best in the state and is going up every-year.
