Help! Teacher rec letter uncertainty

Hello CCers. When I requested a recommendation letter from my teacher, I gave her a resume that stated my exact rank out of about 450 students (I put the exact number). That was last June, and now I recently went to check my rank and realized it was actually out of nearly 500 students. So that’s the number I put on my Common Application. But my teacher recently showed me her letter that she already submitted and it refers to my rank out of 450 students. I’m probably worrying over nothing but is this discrepancy anything to stress about? Would colleges see that I put a class size of about 500 on my Common App and think I’m exaggerating or lying, even though that number is actually true? Is it worth emailing the admissions office to clarify?

You shouldn’t stress about it. Class rank is usually shown on your transcript and your guidance counselor reports. They will see your actual class rank, so they aren’t going to think you’re lying. Your teacher rec should be more than just talking about your class rank, so I don’t believe admissions officers will fret over a little discrepancy like that. Class size can fluctuate, so they might not even think much of it.

Thanks a lot!
