I really messed up my time management in the SAT Math IIC and only got a 590 :( I have a 760 in literature but wont be able to retake the math before my application is due. My scores have been sent to Yale. Would it be worth taking the ACT and hope that Yale will disregard my SAT II scores? Or should i just not bother applying? Thanks for any advice

I got 620 in Bio. Got in.

^Really? That’s reassuring, although I figured that one low score wouldn’t kill an app.

At the OP: Yes, take the ACT. And by all means apply. One low score won’t destroy your application (although I have the exact same fear right now). I know what you mean about not having enough time to retake.

Thanks for the replies I am quite frustrated as I was getting around high 700s for the math practice tests but my nerves just killed me and i couldnt work fast in the actua; test. Is the ACT very similar to the SAT? Since im an international im not sure what the science stuff will be like, is it just graph interpretation or is there knowledge of scientific concepts required?

Science is graph interpretation and other pretty basic knowledge mostly… I liked the ACT better than SAT because the extra science score and the averaged score helped bring my composite up, counterbalancing my ever-low math score. (34 vs. 2220)

Thanks Wigwam. How much prep did you do to get a 34?
And Mythbusters, what were your other stats/extracurricular activities like? What do you think made Yale overlook the test score?
Thanks

Uh, not really much. I took some practice tests, but I doubt they helped.
