i'm going to apply for oxford univeristy this summer.

i am not sure if the application essay is like those for american univerities

so , is there anyone know anything about how to write a british application essay??

thanks for any response~!

No it's not the same. Basically your essay should be to sell why you should be admitted to the course you apply to study, because it is the subject tutors in the colleges who are responsible for admissions, not some central admissions office. So they want to see lots of enthusiasm and commitment to the subject. Equally if you want to talk about ECs, those that are related to your proposed subject are most valuable. If you are only applying to Oxford in the UK you could say why the Oxford course particularly attracts you (no general prestige-whoring!). But if you are thinking of taking up the chance of applying to other UK universities through UCAS you should restrict your essay to the subject (and related ECs) and not mention Oxford because the same essay will go to all your choices.
