Hey guys, just want to say that I have just recently joined this site. So if I'm violating anything or asked the same question already, please aware me. Anyways, I have really been stressed out for the past few weeks. I've received my SAT scores, and tbh, they are pretty bad. I want to know, from your guy's perspective, if I have any chance of being accepted into Cal State LA

Currently a senior

3.1 GPA (weighted)

SAT score of 1170. keep in mind that this was my first and last time taking the exam

Yah, you are probably going to need better scores than that to go anywhere other than a CC. Not saying a CC is bad, but it might be a better fit for you.

I’d say you have a fair chance if you live IN LOS ANGELES. People at my school (located very close to CSULA) almost know that they’re going to get in already. With those stats, its not impossible.

HOWEVER…
If you applied to their Nursing program, I’d say that it is a High Reach for you. Their Nursing program as actually very recognized in the Los Angeles area, and is heavily impacted in the campus. If you put you wanted to be a Philosophy major or something less impacted, I’d say Low Reach.

I doubt you’ll get into nursing since the major at LA is impacted and requires applicants to get a minimum SAT of 900 (critical reading and math only)*. I can’t remember if the Cal State system does alternate major admits. If it does, and you’ve completed all of your A-G requirements, you’ll be admitted, likely as an undeclared major. If not, you’ll likely be denied.
