help this poor chap get into Harvard, Yale, or Wharton

ok so since my last thread went dead, ill keep this one as short as possible.

HS records: not so great. Was a b+/a- student untill senior year, during which i experienced a lot of emotional/health problems and screwed up my grades, probably driving my average down to a b-/b. SAT's not that great either 1390 on my first try, 1290 second try, 1390 again third try.

SAT II's Writing 650; Lit 730; Bio 680; US Hist 650.

As for EC's, I was the massachusets state winner for the national peace essay contest, got to meet kerry and ted kennedy for this....other than that a small list of unimportant stuff. I'm a good writer, so i have no worries about my transfer essays....i even received a personal note from one of the college admissions officer of johns hopkins about how wonderful my essay was, though they ended up rejecting me. My college ec list will include a community volunteer frat, asian student rep for congress, leadership program, and a mutual fund organization which i plan to initiate. I also will be writing articles for the new york times and be working on my own novel.

Now, assuming that i enter turbo nerd mode for the whole school year, get straight A's on all my courses, receive excellent recs, and participate in various leadership roles throughout the community, what else should i do to get into Harvard, UPENN (legacy) specifically wharton, and Yale?

Biggest question: Should i friggen take the new version SAT I? Cuz that would suck a lot. Im thinking of taking the japanese sat II

dude. sorry but you have no chance.

that is probably enough for wharton, but you prob will have to do it for two years and apply as a junior. The other two are extreme reaches. Where do you go now?

are you going to a community college or where?

doesnt wharton state that they dont want junior transfers? so my only shot is probably this year . F*** it im applying to all the schools anyway. i go to UW Madison and i hate this place.....well...not really but it still sucks.

hey slinky, although your stats are on the lower bounds at those schools, i don't see the harm in trying, unless you come from poor families, but still... 3 apps=$200 max
let's look at this from a winning perspective, if you don't try, you got 0% at any of those schools!
but if you got the money to try, i suggest that you write a really good essay(which you probably will) and even with that very small percentage at those elite schools, let's say like 1-5%, that's still a chance!
and if you really think about it, that's pretty goood!!!
so... i recommend that you try :)
i am trying to transfer too, if you would like to keep a contact, my msn is jack_frost429@hotmail.com
best wishes in transfering

What college are you at now?

If you have really, really good essays, that would help. And colleges do look at "grade trend" between hs and college. Good luck...
