help! TOEFL requirement

I applied to 17 US schools and every SINGLE one exempted me from TOEFL based on my SAT I Verbal score of 750. U Toronto and McGill did too, but Queens contacted saying their TOEFL requirement is "firm". and they need TOEFL scores by mid March.

I am a Canadian citizen living in Shanghai, China and doing the IBDP. It has never occured to me up til this point to take the TOEFL. And it's really expensive + hard to sign up for.
And I always believed it was pointless compared to the SATs.

MY parents are not paying a couple thousand RMB for me to take the TOEFL for just 1 school.
what should I do? I don't want to withdraw my app either, I spent a lot of time applying to Queens scholarships plus I really like the school.

Help!!
Thanks.

I personally think it's a waste of money.. ridiculously expensive.
There were 2 schools that firmly required the TOEFL from me, but I was just like screw you. I just wrote on their apps that i was billingual since birth (which I am). I didn't write, "this is the reason I didn't take the TOEFL". But hopefully they get my point and will exempt me somehow.
If they reject me just because I didnt take the TOEFL, honestly, I wouldnt care. I wouldn't even like to study at an institution that lacked sensibility anyway.
I cant rememeber the fees but isnt it somewhere around $300?

If you have only been living in an english speaking country for less than 3 years, I can understand Queens' requirement. But if you have been speaking english for the last million years of your life, well it's up for you to decide what to think.

If you love the school, more than you love $300, then I guess you should just take it if they FIRMLY believe you should take it. If they mean 'firmly' as in 'automatic rejection if you dont take toefl', it's a bit more risky not taking it.
So the moral of the post is, you should decide.

i think its $140 that TOEFL costs and I think you can talk to the admissions officer and send him samples of your english works like essays and stuff(preferably graded) just to show that you are above the ordinary TOEFl level....and what a stupid college that ....requiring toefl score from a guy who has 750 in verbal...!!.........can't help wondering how that admission offier looks like!!Lol
