HELP! transfer to UCLA biz econ w/o completion of Pre-req's?

Hi everyone!

This is my first time posting on this website, but I've read countless threads that have been very helpful so I'm hoping to get the same results!

My question is as follows:

Did you, or anybody you know successfully transfer to UCLA from a CC, without completing all the pre-req's for the major? My top choice right now is UCLA, but I will not have completed the math requirements when I apply in Fall 2012 for the fall 2013 year. Unfortunately, I will be 2 classes short (calculus) by the end of the spring 2013 semester. So I basically just wanted to see if anybody has successfully transferred or is on the same boat.

Brief Background and Stats:

I'm 22 and I work 45-60 hours a week as a production supervisor for a cardboard company. I have a 2 year old daughter, and both these reasons are mainly why I want to attend UCLA due to it's convenience to home since I have to work, and because I don't want to move my daughter and wife away from home. This is also the reason i want to apply asap so i can (hopefully) be done with school faster.

GPA: 3.91
no extra curriculars but im a dad and work full time so i figured that should count for something.

that's pretty much it haha. So, do i have a shot? or should i stick it out at a CC for another year or 2 to just finish all the pre-req's?

Thanks in advance! You guys are the best!

you’ll be rejected 99.99%. math is one of the important requirements, and it has to be completed. especially for a super competitive major like bizecon

@ aust1nku- i figured :frowning: i appreciate the honesty. Do you know if it’s equally important when applying to private schools? like SC?

You could finish if place into calculus at another community college.

Itransfer:

Yea I can retake the placement test at my school too, and i was definitely thinking about trying that. I feel like if i study just enough to pass the test, it’d be well worth it, but I dont know if i’d realistically be able to pull that off. thanks for the advice!

privates like USC have their own standards, but i have no clue whether they’ll accept you or not because again, math is a critical course like english composition. however, USC does (or did…and probably will for 2013) accept sophomore transfers. i’d call the admissions office and see if you’re eligible. i have a friend who was accepted to USC as a sophomore.

Hi,

For USC’s business admission, there is a math requirement that you must fulfill or you will more than likely be rejected. That math requirement is not hard to finish, it consists of the first level of Calculus or any equivalent class. Fight on!
