My grades in AP English Lang are averaging out to a C+/B- this quarter. I had an A- in both Honors English I and Honors English II before this. Why the hell is this course so insane? Anyone have any advice as to how I can pick up? I think my teacher may have a bad opinion of me and wants to wring my neck for the rest of the year or something. Thing is, my grade is somewhere around the class average. There are only a few people with B+'s and A-'s. No A's. Should I drop? I'm taking 4 APs right now and I want to keep it that way (looking for the most rigorous courseload description). I don't dislike the course or anything, it's a lot of fun but maybe too much work. Perhaps I haven't been putting in as much time as I should be? I sleep at like 1:00-2:00 but maybe that's too early and I should spend more time working? Anybody w/ advice from personal experience?

haha my AP english lang class is a joke. The real teachers pregnant so we have this guy whose never taught it before. we never do anything and have had maybe 4 assignments and 1 paper. basically people just sleep and text. It's going to be sad when everybody fails the AP test though, luckily i'm self-studying.

I try to make up my poor essay scores with awesome novel-test scores. I am not sure if it will work for you, though.

some schools (like mine) don't do a good job in the honors (pre-ap) english clases to prepare students for the rigor of the ap class. if this is the case for you, there's really only one solution: work harder. or find a way work smarter. go to office hours, etc.

My AP English is literallly the hardest being on Earth...he says he's going to treat his class like a grad. school class, and always gives us pop tests and pop essays saying that if we really "are good readers and writers then it shouldn't matter if the quiz/test/essay is pop or not," And to him, like he says it was like in grad. school, a "C" means you completed the work completely....

half the class is failing now...:9

Ouch, that hurts! Internally.

i'm having trouble too, i had her when i was in nineth grade but man she was not this hard then! i'll probably get a C or something this marking period, but thank God it's early in the year! i need to step it up a notch!

not only this, my other APs are jst as hard --chem and world. in addition, french just got so much harder from last year i have no idea why. my french teacher still treats us like french 4 AP students even tho that title has been taken away already (idk why). i hate junior yr!

We must be twins, I'm in the exact same situation. I'm also in 4 AP's, and although Lang gives the least work (2 out of class essays are all we've had), it's pretty difficult for me. I think I just need to adjust my mindset to more rhetorical, analytical writing instead of the fluff I was doing for honors. Hopefully I'll get it together 2nd quarter!

The easiest AP's at my school are Chemistry, Calculus AB, and Economics Stuff. The teachers give out buttloads of extra credit (100/0 pl0x? kthx!) but AP Eng is just....awful. I'm one of the few people that has a lucky 87 right now, compared to the rest who are failing because he gave out so many 40%'s and 50%'s on some papers.
