Help! Tufts Vs. University Of Michigan

hey guys, i have been accepted to both tufts and umich for class of 2010. i have been debating both schools and have sent in my deposit to mich and am still torn 50/50. what are your thoughts?

hahahaha im having the same problem, and still havent made a firm decision....

its simple....big ten party school obsessed with football in a town devoted to your school or a smaller party scene, more academic school in boston

same problem here...I'm not
so into the party scene, I prefer tufts

weird, I fall into this category as well!

What do you want in a college? It's difficult to say one is better than the other.

both have cold weather.
both are excellent in their academics.
both basically have the same amount of brand-name "prestige" (UMich is right above Tufts in the US N&W Report, so any comparison in this category is negligible.)
Tufts has Boston. U of Michigan has.. Michigan (not that Michigan's a bad thing! I just don't think it's all that comparable to Boston)
U of Michgan has great sports. Tufts is sort of sports-apathetic.

I guess I just kind of reiterated what people have said above, but I really think the decision-making factor for you will probably be in academic offerings. Which school has courses that you're more interested in? What kind of post-graduate opportunities are more available to you after going to either school? Which school has better professors in what you want to specialize in? (you can look this up at ratemyprofessor.com while looking at the courses you want to take on the school websites) What I'm basically saying is that more research = better informed = better/easier decision. Good luck with everything (and I hope you choose Tufts!).

Michigan is a state. i think you mean ann arbor.

Hey!! If you guys still exist on here, what did you end up deciding? Same prob :(:frowning: and it’s reaaaally late to still be choosing, help is much appreciated!!!

Tufts…I believe Michigan has been dropping admission standards slightly lately to allow more out-of-state students for budgetary reasons…
