Hey everyone I'm from Boston and have just been accepted into both schools for psychology. I haven't visited either school yet but I just know that I want to be in Cali. I'm really into partying but also want to learn :) Some people have told me that the people who go to UCLA are more into academics and their parties are no where near as good as UCSB... just wondering if that was true since i do want to go to college in a place that i will enjoy being at for 4 years. The problem, though, is that UCLA (rankings wise) is considered a better school, more well known across the country. What do you think I should do? If you want to know more about me please ask!

Thanks!! :)

you said you're really into partying, you should go to ucsb. it's a pretty campus too.

I'd say UCLA. America churns out about 100 psych majors for every case that needs a psychologists lol. So I just think you'll need the prestige boost of UCLA. You'll definitely need a masters if you want to be serious about practicing psych imo.

What is more important to you, partying or academics?

Once you decide that, your choice will be easy.

UCLA grad, UCSB mom here.

Both are excellent schools. You really need to visit both.

UCLA has the Neurophychiatric Institute and is top ten in the country in Psych. This is really needed in the land of fruits and nuts :)

I agree, visit both schools. They are very different. UCLA is really dense, and less of a "college town". But if you live within 15 minute walk of campus, there will be 15-20 parties every night starting Thursday... just a little less raucus than those in Isla Vista section at UCSB.

Oh, kind of off topic, but if you are female, UCLA can be kind of intimidating in terms of always comparing yourself with the female students, who tend to be quite attractive, made up, expensive clothes, etc. I've never figured out why, but assume it is the proximity to Hollywood.
