HELP! UCSB and San Diego State

UCSB is ranked very high, I would be an econ major - they have an excellent summer program, and I would graduate i three years. The atmosphere is very relaxed, and people seem down to earth? They also report a very high student retention and satisfaction rate which is awesome. BUT, there doesnt seem to be a lot of opportunities to participate in musical theater??

SDSU is by a major city, is cheaper, and I would be an international business major. It also might be harder to graduate in 3 years due to impacted-ness. There is high crime, but there seems to be a lot to do outside of school and better living options.

I'm planning on studying abroad in the UK for a semester, and then going to law school, but it doesnt matter where i graduate fro at long as I do well on the LSAT and get a high gpa- I really would appreciate an insiders point of view, which school is better to be at, SDSU or UCSB? I literally can't decide....

“better living options” depends on what you like. At UCSB most students live in Isla Vista after frosh year, so your friends are going to be clustered right near you. It has a real college-town vibe, but it is by no means a large town. At SDSU there will be all the attractions of a large city, but the students tend to be scattered thru the area. Some choose to live in the Pacific or Mission Beach areas, others from the SD area live at home, many find cheaper housing away from the ocean. Your classmates are going to be scattered which makes it harder to get together to socialize, to study, etc. So its a tradeoff – traditional college town vs nice city on the coast.

As for musical theater, got me there. UCSB does have a theater arts major, so I imagine there is something going on, but you’ll have to research it.
