I am a junior in high school and I wanted to know if I should look into applying to a university here in the United States or one in Europe? Which one would be best for me as I want to major in business administration. I have been looking at John Cabot University in Italy, Richmond the American International University in London. As for schools in the U.S. California Lutheran University, San Diego State, Oregon State, The University of the Pacific, and the University of Chicago. Would a school abroad be better?

Are you a US citizen or would you be an international applicant to US schools? This makes a big difference in terms of the financial aid you can receive.
Also, what do you want to do with your degree, and where? Generally, it’s best to study where you want to end up working. You will get the most relevant knowledge and make more potentially useful connections, I think.

Yes I am a US citizen. And I would like to work in Europe after college. As for what I want to do with my degree, I’m not so sure.

Do you speak any languages other than English fluently?

If not, it’s going to limit you to the UK and Ireland, plus the tiny handful of unis on the continent that teach in English.

Not that there’s anything wrong with going to the UK or Ireland - we have some of the world’s best universities.

Perhaps the biggest thing to note about the difference between studying in the US and UK is that UK degrees are three years long (so often cheaper, depending on where you’d go / how much FA you’d get in the US), but they are three years long because they are very specialised. You apply for a certain subject, and spend all, or almost all, of your time on that subject. Changing subjects can be difficult, and isn’t encouraged as it can necessitate starting your degree over again.

Basically, the UK is great if you know exactly what you want to study, but if you don’t have a burning passion for one or two particular subjects, then it’s less great.

Well I do speak English and Spanish fluently and some french. I think going abroad would be the best option for me

It may be difficult to use that degree here
