HELP! University of Maryland Application Question

I just checked my University of Maryland application status portal and I’m freaking out because it says my guidance counselor and teacher recommendations are not received!!! I’ve told my teachers that Maryland does NOT use Common App… Everything else is completed.

But then I go to my application and it says that everything I need is completed for the application…
I think it’s too late to call and fix it; I applied for regular but I still didn’t hear back
Does this mean they just threw away my application because it didn’t have the recommendation letters?

Anything would help me a lot, and thanks!!!

I would call. UMD had my recommendations since november but they didn’t show up on my account until after my teacher resubmitted it in late january. It may be there.

UMD is closed today due to the snow storm

We had similar issues back in November with UMD’s portal. It was really stressful for us.

I’d ask your teachers if they received the email request for recommendations from umd and did they send them in. We had one teacher who had to re-submit and write an additional letter saying she had not received the original request from UMD. Also check with your guidance counselor to see what it looks like from her end. If the error is on UMD’s end, they may be better about fixing it.

There are a couple of ways to submit the recommendations, and they are marked in different places on your portal. Depending on how it was sent, it would show up as received in one place but not the other. So, while it may show “not received” in online recommendations, they could still have it registered as an offline recommendation.

Thank you so much!!

Adding on to what maryversity said, this is a quote that UMD has written in the right side column: “PLEASE NOTE: If you have submitted a freshman application, the status of recommendations submitted offline (either on paper or using another online system, such as Naviance) will be listed below the heading of “Other Supporting Documents” in the document tracking area (at left).”
