Help update this list of full tuition schools for NMF

The following is an old list of colleges that supposedly give full tuition to NMF. The list has been posted numerous times on CC but it's doubtful that it is "up to date". The list probably has some "old info" on it (colleges that no longer give full tuition to NMF) and there are probably some colleges that need to be added. If you know of colleges that need to be added (or subtracted) please post.

University of Arizona
Arizona State University

Both give full tuition scholarships for all NMFs--resident or non-resident, guaranteed.

My d rec'd a letter from University of Florida that offered darn near full ride and honors program if she designated UF as her first choice on the first list. And Texas A&M is complicated, but after combining all their offers, it covered three of four years essentially. And they don't care which list they come in on, just that they are listed as first choice by the May deadline. I'd categorize both as very good schools with very good merit money.

Also, Tulane doesn't have guaranteed money...but I know of National Merit finalists and commended getting Deans Scholars and Founders Awards. Dean Scholars is virtually full I believe...and Founders is little more than half ride. Tulane also has private sponsors who will bump your award if you appear a little on the fence. My d's award was amended twice with private sponsors. I think they have quite a few of these awards and the earlier you apply the better.

Of course, she chose to go where she got the very LEAST money (Chapel Hill)...oh well....

U of Texas at Dallas, and U of Houston(believe this is true for both; you would need to verify to be 100% sure)

Houston offers not only full tuition but a FULL RIDE to NM Finalists. Tuition, room, board, books, everything.

Florida slashed their NMF scholarship to around $1500 a year for the class of 2011 and on.

really Visirale! Wow...are they giving up the race? They have always been one of the most aggressive universities in recruiting NMFs.

USoCal guarantees at least 1/2 tuition to all accepted NMFs who list USC as their 1st choice by the NMF deadlline. It's not a full-ride, but still a nice merit award & guaranteed for all 4 years provided you make satisfactory progress toward your degree & have at least a 3.0 GPA. I recognize this does stray from the full-tuition offers, but still consider it pretty generous.

I had heard that about UF and I think TCNJ has been/will be gutted, too.

"The University of Florida participates in the National Merit Scholarship Program and guarantees that all students who qualify as finalists and name the University of Florida as their college of first choice will receive a substantial financial award. National Merit Scholarship finalists work with the director of the Honors Program to establish the academic year and area in which they will participate. In addition, all out-of-state finalists who name UF as their college of first choice will have their out-of-state fees waived."

From the UF website. While they are little ambiguous about the amount of the merit award ("substantial financial award?"), waiving of out of state fees is material for oos candidates. I do know, in the past, UF has been extremely particular about coming in on that FIRST list from Nat'l Merit Corp. Almost obsessive...we rec'd letter after letter (and phone calls) about the deadline. Not sure if this is something that has changed as well.

Footnote about UT-Austin. My d was also Nat'l Hispanic Scholar in addition to NMF. UT does not stack the awards. Both were about $3000 a year. She got into COLA Honors there, but the unwillingness to stack was the deal breaker. We are paying about $8K a year extra over the cost of UT for her to attend UNC-CH, but the school/ surrounding town environment is a better fit, and pre-med/health sciences/honors program are top notch.

Ohio State--full plus half room and board
University of Cincinnati--full and a computer

ambidex: Is the Ohio state only for OHIO residents???

Everyone, PLEASE indicate whether the scholarships are for state residents only (if that is the case)!

Or, PLEASE state if the award is only for the "in-state" amount of tuition (meaning that out-of-staters have to pay the (usually) huge difference in tuition).

U of Central Florida ---

I know of someone who got a wonderful NMF Scholarship offer from UCF but I can't find any details listed on their website. Does anyone know where the details are?

Check out the UCF info here. http://www.admissions.sdes.ucf.edu/faq.asp#a2004061517154352

my 3 sons

I found that site earlier today but I don't see where it lists what the school actually gives NMF. Did you find the amounts?
