MichelleC's daughter's teeth will be yellowed when she attends med school. Med school-->lots of work-->all-nighters-->coffee. As long as we know what the end result will be, she might as well attend the better school in the process.

Commandertaco- It is ridiculous to think a nation could be founded on perfect gums and teeth. Obviously American was founded on beautiful and healthy hair. I think Pantene Pro-V models make more money than dentists--not that that's questionable or anything.

Dimples, Perfect Teeth, Curly Hair They All Scream The Same Thing, AMERICA, FREEDOM, and UVA. It's that simple really. Another important indicator would be if MichelleC's daughter has any camouflage pants. The presence of her owning a pair of these would indicate to me and the rest of America that she is not only ready to help out this nation in a time of need but is also a perfect fit for UVA.

Lauren, hun, I think you are underestimating these teeth and gums, they are impervious to all forms of decay and plague. I cannot stress the beauty of them enough, and again, there is no point in pulling all-nighters with lots of coffee when you have a perfect smile with dimples to flash and simply get away with anything. This will also help with problems with the law. As for commander taco's insane implication about teeth and gums I ask you to look at George Washington. The man who underwent tremendous pains of bearing wooden teeth in order to maintain his mouthly prestige instead of just having gaps from the removed decayed teeth. Now there is a true patriot who was willing to sacrifice himself for the country. As for the better school, again hun, I think her choice should be UVA.

Edit: Girls with curly hair, dimples and beautiful smiles dont drink coffee silly they drink diet pepsi, havent you ever seen the commercials?

I give up! I mean, I give in. MrAmazing and Commander speak the truth. GO to UVA! I heard from a friend of a friend that there is this one kid on the Midd campus that has braces. MichelleC's daughter is not ready for that world.

You have been converted Lauren, I understand that the arguement for UVA is very convincing, your input is greatly appreciated. <3. Plus braces are scary.

I am glad you have come around, I respect the fact that you understand our nation cannot be divided, and have thus come to support you nation like a good citizen. I applaud you

If we can get back on topic for a brief second, UVA has an already good and growing Media Studies department, though it is theory rather than production oriented.

First off, all the schools on that list are great choices. I really think you should try to narrow down the schools. I would try to narrow them down by either size, or location. As far as location, NYU is definitely the odd one out being in a big city. UVA is in a nice good sized college town. W&M is nice too, smaller town than UVA, but more stuff around than the Northern small schools on the list (possibly with the exception of Bowdoin, I actually don't know where that is), but the town isn't as student friendly. (W&M is not frigidly cold, contrary to what mboyle said. And also, contrary to what mboyle said, UVA is not in the biggest city either, I believe that distinction goes to NYU. Your UVA bias seems to have some gaps.)

Try to cut the list in half based on size or geography, and then choose from there. The education will be good at any school, so it's best for your D to choose based on FIT FIT FIT. =)

commandertaco - what are you doing? Hopefully you will get banned pretty soon. You have 11 posts all in this thread and all off topic.

Thank you for everyone's input. It is great to get comments from anyone willing to give them -- I think this will help make her think about what is important to her regarding school.

I heard UVA has amazing food to match amazing teeth and gums. Honestly, food is what makes a person happy when they are sad, so if your daughter is seaarching for happiness I suggest she follows her taste buds.

Excellent food lifts our troops spirits and gives them the resolve needed to fight the war on terror. The same concept applies to your daughter, good food will help her nation as well as give her the resolve to do well in school. Take for example the humble taco, a simple food that while very common always raises ones spirits. As I understand it, UVA has a dedicated taco chef. Once again I applaud UVA and News Corp for their outsatnding work in this area.

Anyone have any idea at how successful any of these in getting their grads into med school? Anyone know of websites with med school acceptance rates?

I would choose UVA. I assume that you are in-state. Middlebury is not a real premed school, though I suppose that some people do premed there. Bowdoin- OK if you want an LAC, but in that case, why not William and Mary? NYU- a special case. Great if a person really wants that environment, can thrive in it, and can afford it. It is not the typical college experience, though.
