So I just got my final grade and it seems that my original 3.43 GPA plunged down to a 3.17 after I got a D in my physics 1B course at Pasadena City College. Ironically, I am physics major. I waived my calc requirement because of my AP credit from AP Calculus BC. For mechanics (Physics 1A) at PCC, I got a C in that course. But all my GE's with two missing GE left are all A's and B totaling of 54 units as a sophomore heading to USC this fall.

My admissions condition says that I have to just get satisfactory grades contingent of verification of final grades. Also, because I got a D, I might have to retake it in the summer but the class is already filled at PCC and elsewhere that I just signed up for political science and astronomy instead. Do you think my admissions counselor Aaron Brown might rescind my admissions because of my pre-requite grades being so low?

Not only that, but the physics course was so hard that I went also below half time for this spring. =. My GPA will be a below a 3.00… :(. If I get an 4.00 in the summer with the classes I signed up, do you think it is more than likely my admissions will be upheld even though I am accepted…? I already paid my deposit, signed up for orientation and everything. =(.

Hello! Nice to meet you. I am also a pasadena city college student who takes Physics 1B in the spring. The same as you, I also decide to go to the USC and major in chemical engineering. At first, I want to say that classes at pasadena city college is not over. You still have two weeks to improve your score. In an assumption, if you get a B on the final test which is 20% of total grade, you will definately get a C in the Physics class.

Get in contact with them asap and plead your case. Come up with a good reason for your grade. If you have grades for your courses your in now and doing well use them to show it was a slip and your scores are back up to par.

I’m also at PCC and have e-mailed Aaron Brown before. For what it is worth, he was very helpful to me so I hope he is able to give you some good news too.

Aaron Brown is just too soft as an admissions counselor/officer. He’s only been an admission counselor for two years graduating USC in 2007. I know a friend who was a math major who got into USC with C and F’s in his prerequisites for his math major and got A’s and B’s in his other GE classes. Furthermore, this friend had only 2/3 of his GE finished for USC and less than 60 units as a one-year transfer & Aaron Brown still said it was okay for him to go USC. He didn’t write anything spectacular except being a math teacher and he dropped below full-time for his spring taking classes that weren’t even related to his major at all. I think Aaron Brown is just too novice and inexperienced (and an idiot) for an admissions officer. He’ll more likely spare you because of your grades because of his personality to be soft on his kids he admitted. My friend even told me he said it was ok not for him not to retake the class in the summer. Aaron Brown = funny man.

Best of luck!! I’m really scared for a microeconomics final I have tomorrow (what the heck am I doing HERE?), but I’m an English major and I most likely won’t get below the B I’m dreading. :S
