Greetings Everyone!
I am a prospective CS/CE student transferring from a Washington Community College. Although I have accepted the offer from UCLA computer science and engineering major, I keep checking myUW website, hoping to stay in the state that I like. Yesterday, I noticed that UW has generated a SID number and unofficial transcript for me, which might be a sign of being admitted (maybe?)
Before I leave WA, please give me some reason to stay at UW.
Here are some details about my situation:
- [Most important] I would like to choose the school who can better prepare me for an career in the industry.
- [Also important] My parent is a CA resident and I am a dependent of my parent. While UCLA has more Financial Aid and higher cost, UW has a lower living cost. So the out-of-pocket money will be about the same.
- [Somewhat important] My parents prefers UCLA because of their traditional culture of school ranking (they were looking at the Times Higher Education Ranking specifically, where UCLA is ranked 12th and UW is 26th). They also believe the “UCLA Computer Science and Engineering” major is stronger than “UW Computer Engineering” major, .which I am not sure about the difference between those two majors
- [Somewhat important] I personally prefers the weather in Washington, I studied in UC for an summer before and I suffered heatstroke in the middle of that semester/quarter.
- [Somewhat important] I personally prefers the environment in Washington. Although I should be able get along well with classmates after some effort no matter which school I go, many of my community college friends are waiting for me at UW CSE/EE Dept.
Thank everyone in advance for the advice,
P.S. I was also admitted by UCSD, UCI, Georgia Tech, and U of Minnesota for CE/CSE/CS/CS majors (respectfully), am I stupid turning them down?
