I’ve recently had a major paradigm shift in what I want to focus on in college, hence forcing myself to completely rethink my college list/search. If anyone could suggest some schools (can be reach, match, safety), that would be great! If anymore information is needed, please ask! Thank you!
I’m interested in double majoring in English and Political Science w/ a strong EC emphasis on theatre, volunteering, language, and writing. II have a 32 ACT w/ perfect scores in English and Writing (very humanities heavy student), planning to retake along with possibly taking subject tests in History and Literature. I have a 3.7 UW GPA, am going to have completed 8 AP’s by the end of HS w/ one self study and 5’s on AP exams so far.
At the moment, I’m open to warm weather or cold weather, small LAC or large state school; any suggestions are very much appreciated!
Oberlin, Wesleyan, Vassar, Kenyon, Clark, and Tulane are highly varied schools that came to mind. What’s your budget and state of residency?
My family is low income (I work two jobs) and am only considering schools w/ great financial aid or merit money
Ok, all those schools have good FA but Tulane, Clark, and I think Kenyon are slightly worse for need based.
Are you female, and if so, are you open to women’s colleges?
Outside of size and weather, do you have any preferences like Greek life/no Greek? General differences in “vibe” like a school known for being very intellectual? City vs rural?
If possible, visit a few schools that are very different. It can really help get an idea of what you want - I thought I was ok with any size, until I visited BU and Syracuse and knew I needed something smaller.
I am a woman, however I am not sure that I’m interested in attending a women’s college apart from Scripps. I would prefer warmer weather, however it isn’t a deal breaker. Culturally vibrant cities (rich in art, music, theatre, etc.) would be great but again isn’t a necessary if the college itself makes up for it. I don’t want to go to a huge school, apart from maybe USC because of its unique location and programs. I would not mind there being Greek life or a party scene!
