Ok so here's the deal.....

I am 2 weeks away from completing my last prerequisite before I can be admitted into my major (psych). Here's the thing, they can't process my application (which I have already sent) until I turn in my grade because of the GPA minimum. Anyway, I am trying to get into Upper div courses right now, and I have been quite high up on the wait-list since EARLY phase 1!!! I am already a junior, and I cant waste any more time taking bulls**t filler courses.

I am #15 on the list for psych 130 and #50 for psych 150. I am going to add Psych 110 tomorrow during my Phase 2, simply because there is no way i'm getting into 150. But the thing is, I need to take three psych courses this semester. What else can I do? Will I get in once they process my app? Should I just show up and have a talk with the prof? Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to get into 150 at least?

On another note, I am double majoring in Anthro and am interested in taking Anthro 115. I haven't declared yet, will do that in the fall. I am #30 on the waitlist. Chance me please ;)

So ya, waitlisted for EVERY class as of now. Am I completely fu**ed?

I was in a similar situation. I’m declaring Psych fall semester and I’m a junior. I’m taking two psych classes in the fall (im VERY low on the waitlist for both) and am taking my last pre-req along with a breadth. I then plan on completing my upper division requirements during future semesters.

In terms of answering your question, I was told there wasn’t a guarantee on getting upper divison psych classes in the fall when you declare in the summer b/c grades come out after Phase II is completed (one of the reasons why I didn’t bother declaring this summer). However, Andrea (the counselor) told me she would do ‘her best’ but it ‘wasn’t guaranteed’. I would take psych 110 and perhaps drop the psych class you dont stand a chance of getting in and picking a filler OR talk to the professors/counselors and be a you get what you want and deserve. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the oil.

HOpe this helps

Definitely talk to both the counselors and to the professors of each class. Often the wait list is manually processed, meaning that if they understand you are a psych major in all but the final dotting of the i and crossing of the t, they may clear you in ahead of others on the list.

same here… my phase freaking 2 is pushed to next week, and all my second-major classes have already been with long long waiting-lists. I asked what my “second-major” counselor about what I should do, guess what he told me? “Just forget about this major. I know you are interested in it, you won’t need it in the future.” sigh…

big public school, we all share the same frustrations
