Hi guys sorry in advance If I ask anything that has already been asked in a previous discussion. I applied as a junior who needs 2/3 FA. I got waitlisted at Choate, Andover, Deerfield, Hotchkiss and Peddie. I know that the likelihood of anyone getting off the waitlist is really low and I shouldn’t count on it. Also I know that it really depends on the individual and what the schools specifically need depending on who comes to the school or not. But I played at Carnegie Hall after the admissions deadline, so I was only able to say that I was going to play but wasn’t able to provide a video. If I was wondering if it was a good idea to email the video to these schools and provide a solo video of my self. Also if I do email the videos should I send it to admissions, the band director or both? On the more positive notes I got into NMH! But I wasn’t given any FA and I can’t afford to go without FA. So right now I’m on the waiting list for FA. How likely is it for me to get off the waiting list and would it be a good idea to write a letter explaining why I need it?
Sorry if I have an grammatical errors I’m on a band trip right now and typing on my phone.Thank You for any who replies!
Hi @Lohasing! I got accepted into Peddie off the wait list late May. So, hang in there! I know this is 3 months later, but sending a video of you playing the piano helps to your interviewer and the arts department chair. Also, contacting your interviewer and expressing your interest at any of the schools you applies to helps. When on the wait list, I provided extra letters of recommendation, a letter of continued interest, and I also stayed in touch with the admissions officers. In your case, since it is quite late, I would contact the admissions officers to find out their enrollment status. Also, congratulations on playing at Carnegie Hall! I too play the piano, and that is a great accomplishment!
