HELP Wanted!!!!

Hey fellow CC'ers,

I'm looking for some honest advice on my college selections for fall 2012. I'm currently taking on a gap year and I want to head into this with realistic expectations for school.

First of all, here are my stats:

I lived outside of the US for my entire life and i moved to NY this year after finishing high school, so all my schooling was done abroad.

UW GPA 3.75
SAT: 1850 (570Cr, 610M, 670W) 1st time taking SAT

Colleges:

Rochester institute of Technology
CUNY- Hunter College
SUNY: Binghamton
Cornell
NYU
Clark University

Now i know wat you're thinking, with my SAT i wont get into NYU or Cornell, but i'm planning to re-take it in Oct and i'm predicting 650Cr, 640M, 640-670W (based on practice tests)

also if you have any college suggestions, preferably in NY, MA or PA, then it would be very helpful! thank you again for any help guys

Unfortunately, you still won’t get into Cornell, even with the scores you predict.

It is incredibly hard to get into Cornell.

And even Binghampton is very hard to get into nowadays

same comment for NYU

perhaps consider Fordham, or Union College or SUNY Albany/SUNY Buffalo. Or perhaps something like University of Connecticut.

If you do well, you can always try and transfer.

I transferred from SUNY Albany to Cornell, albeit 30 years ago.

hahaha thanks so much! i kinda figured that Cornell was kinda of a reach for me.

However I’m really looking at NYU as a possibility if i really work hard on my SAT score. I heard a lot of persons mentioning the blue book as being very helpful so I’m going to get it and work hard.

Anyone else wants to weigh in on this?

does anyone know if Penn State- University Park would be goo for me?

and i forgot to say that my intended major is Biochemistry or Biotechnology

What can your family afford? Are you considered in-state anywhere?

yup, i’d qualify for NY in-state benefits, as for my family, they’re willing to go for maximum $45,000(tution and fees) for college

Is that per year?

yup, per year.

bump!!! i’m still looking for some more feedback

Stony Brook may be better for Biochem.
