HELP Wanted!!!!

<p>Hey fellow CC'ers,</p>

<p>I'm looking for some honest advice on my college selections for fall 2012. I'm currently taking on a gap year and I want to head into this with realistic expectations for school.</p>

<p>First of all, here are my stats:</p>

<p>I lived outside of the US for my entire life and i moved to NY this year after finishing high school, so all my schooling was done abroad.</p>

<p>UW GPA 3.75
SAT: 1850 (570Cr, 610M, 670W) 1st time taking SAT</p>

<p>Colleges:</p>

<p>Rochester institute of Technology
CUNY- Hunter College
SUNY: Binghamton
Cornell
NYU
Clark University </p>

<p>Now i know wat you're thinking, with my SAT i wont get into NYU or Cornell, but i'm planning to re-take it in Oct and i'm predicting 650Cr, 640M, 640-670W (based on practice tests)</p>

<p>also if you have any college suggestions, preferably in NY, MA or PA, then it would be very helpful! thank you again for any help guys</p>

<p>Unfortunately, you still won’t get into Cornell, even with the scores you predict. </p>

<p>It is incredibly hard to get into Cornell.</p>

<p>And even Binghampton is very hard to get into nowadays</p>

<p>same comment for NYU</p>

<p>perhaps consider Fordham, or Union College or SUNY Albany/SUNY Buffalo. Or perhaps something like University of Connecticut.</p>

<p>If you do well, you can always try and transfer.</p>

<p>I transferred from SUNY Albany to Cornell, albeit 30 years ago.</p>

<p>hahaha thanks so much! i kinda figured that Cornell was kinda of a reach for me.</p>

<p>However I’m really looking at NYU as a possibility if i really work hard on my SAT score. I heard a lot of persons mentioning the blue book as being very helpful so I’m going to get it and work hard.</p>

<p>Anyone else wants to weigh in on this?</p>

<p>does anyone know if Penn State- University Park would be goo for me?</p>

<p>and i forgot to say that my intended major is Biochemistry or Biotechnology</p>

<p>What can your family afford? Are you considered in-state anywhere?</p>

<p>yup, i’d qualify for NY in-state benefits, as for my family, they’re willing to go for maximum $45,000(tution and fees) for college</p>

<p>Stony Brook may be better for Biochem.</p>
