Hello.

I've written 10 novels. Published 3. I have a book blog, fan of over 3,000 people. Working on publishing my next novel. I'd like to study creative writing and film while in college.

I'm in student government, student newspaper, photography club, drama club, madrigal choir, grace notes, ladies ensemble, 4 + years private singing lessons, intense weekend of acting workshops, volleyball, basketball, 2 part-time jobs, over 200 hours of community service, writing classes, and won a nationwide stock market contest.

I'm a competitive and motivated student.

GPA current: 3.1.
Predictable act score: 25.
GPA by the end of junior year: 3.5.

I reside in Illinois and I go to a large, competitive high school.
I am taking AP classes senior year.

I don't like the weather here or the colleges. I'd like to go to a large and lively four year university in FL or CA. I want to go to a university with LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of school spirit and groups. Coed. I'm indifferent about religion. Warm, sunny weather. :) !! I was looking into Pepperdine, UF...

Help appreciated. :D

Unless you are a freshman you can’t get your 3.1 GPA to a 3.5 by Junior year, unless that GPA is weighted. What is the UW GPA?

Look into Chapman University. For a reach, try USC.

How popular/famous are your novels? I’m trying to determine how much of a “hook” it is.

It’s a big deal. I have 3,000 fans in just 5 months of starting up my book blog. My book is being looked at by 2 literary agents – one who took on Twilight. Do you think I should send them my book in the mail? Or show them a passage or something? How can I use my passion as my strong point? My essay, ECS, high act score will help me get in. My gpa is my weak point, unless I raise it. I’m taking on AP classes next year to help boost my gpa though.

I definitely will look into Chapman University. Thank you. :)

List it as your top activity and write the activity essay about it. They’ll get the point.

A 25 on the ACT is not extraordinarily high, although I see that it is merely your predicted score. Take the ACT/SAT and see how well you score. Work on getting your GPA up as well. If you are as motivated as you say you are, selfstudy AP subjects and the exams for them.

If you want the best school for creative writing, then, unfortunately for you, that would be University of Iowa.

Do you know other universities that suit me well? FL or CA located? I need to get out of Chicago.

Right, but I can further improve my ACT to say a 28+ with practice. I am working hard to get my gpa up as well. Although a 3.1 may seem on the low end, I only have one C (Chemistry) All my other grades are As and Bs. And that’s my UW. Next year I’m taking APS so that will help ? Hmm.

Seems like the OP is doing pretty well for Creative Writing. Florida State is good for film (top 10, I think). Fits with this:

SDSU (I think it would suit you the best), CSULB, University of Miami (low reach but only because of GPA).

What’s your blog called? (:

Best of luck.

I recommend UC Santa Cruz.

For Creative Writing, there is also University of Redlands in CA. Might be too small for you though.
