Help! What happens with AP credits?

I've taken numerous AP credits and am trying to research about transferring them to the college that I choose. My question is, I have scores ranging from 3-5, now assuming that they meet the college's minimum requirements for earned credit, how do these appear on my transcript?

For instance, if a school awards 3 credits hours for a 3, 4, or 5.
I score a 4, and apply to transfer the credit to the university. How will this show up on my college transcript (will it give me a B grade for instance?). Just wondering, because a lot of college scholarships require you to maintain a GPA requirement, and if these are factored in...

Each college does it differently. Some will give you an actual credit, while others will just use it to place you into more advanced classes.

Right, I realize this, but I'm wondering what grade you receive.

If they give you credit, what letter grade appears on your transcript? Or is it put on the transcript as just a pass/fail?

From what I understand, it's similar to a pass/fail.

But I could be very wrong (and I'd like to know too), so I'll just bump this up.

You don't receive a grade. At most schools, you don't even have the course named. The credits are simply added to the ones you actually take and become part of the number you need to graduate.

Info is available on many of the school websites and can very tremendously. For example S received a 5 on Calculus A/B. He is at a top LAC and had to pass the next level of math class with a C+ or better and then the credit for AP would be added. At Stonehill College that same 5 on the AP would earn 8 undergrad credits. -- So check the websites of the particular schools you are interested.
